Nominated for six Hollywood Fringe awards – and winner of three, including Fringe Best International Award – Medicine Woman arrives in Edinburgh for a ceremony that will change the vibe forever.

Veronica Osorio – who you’ve seen acting opposite Gary Oldman and Meryl Streep directed by Steven Soderbergh and alongside Tilda Swinton in Coens Bros movies (and is now typing) – has gone back to her stage roots with her solo clown show Medicine Woman. And is now set to do her first ever Edinburgh Fringe run at Just The Tonic at the Caves.

Medicine Woman comes to Edinburgh, Scotland after a successful run at the Brighton Fringe Festival (UK) and the Hollywood Fringe Festival, where she was honored with six nominations and taking home three awards back to back.

Earning the Italia and Adelaide Awards specifically, means that Medicine Woman is now destined to go around the world (with encouragement and a pat on the back!) and the first stop is the world famous Scottish Festival.

Medicine Woman is very possibly the ONLY clown show to ever represent Venezuela Internationally, a country hit by a humanitarian crisis and political violence so intense Venezuelans are the 6th largest diaspora in the world. And it is precisely being part of this diaspora what inspired the show, one about a traveling Venezuelan shaman who goes around the world and heals strangers with sassiness and dumb-b’ness but… where is home for her?

MEDICINE WOMAN

“Once in a lifetime, a magical traveler passes by your town with her suitcase full of medicines and changes the vibe forever”. Medicine Woman, a healer from Venezuela, is in town for one night only to conduct a shamanic healing ceremony and heal strangers. This dumb bitch of shamans, provides medicine that will depend on the vibe of the audience (could be an entity/character, a dance, juggling, a tarot card, burlesque, a hug or a kiss).

Does this Venezuelan stranger hold the secrets of the universe or is she a lil’ rascal tryna steal little kisses from gorgeous strangers? Does it matter? Once you’re healed, you will understand that matter... doesn't really matter.

Clown, characters, part circus, part shamanic ceremony, total night out with your bestie. Every night will be different but, with Medicine Woman being a Venezuelan lover, there will always be sassines, Venezuelan healing techniques and an element of falling mutually in love… that is until she leaves for the next town.

Enjoy her while you can!

PRESS REVIEWS

by Ziggy Metzler

“Veronica Osorio put all of her being, experiences, desires, and penchant for mischief into her Venezuelan Shamanic clown show, Medicine Woman, and made for one of the most enchanting, mystifying, original solo shows we saw all year long.

-THE COMEDY BUREAU

“Osorio delivers an exuberant, entertaining performance, one that celebrates the erotic, the sensual and the human comedy in all its silliness, and all in a brief one-hour package... Every show is a two-way improvisation that takes into account the sensibility and proclivities of the audience... Everyone, including myself, fell under her spell.”

“A unique, expressive, comedic, and powerful storytelling. I was healed in many ways!”

“Veronica manages to capture the pain and frustration of living in America 2024 – especially as an immigrant or outsider – while simultaneously reminding us what can be so beautiful about it all. Oh, and she does it while making the entire audience laugh for an hour.”

“Veronica’s ability to captivate and engage her audience is unparalleled.”

“This was the best show I’ve seen at Fringe, and one of the best live performances I think I’ve ever seen. The rawest example of how theatre can be an experience and a connection between the artist and the audience.”

“It’s clear that Veronica and her team have created something special here.”
